West Oxford Pantomime Association

A WOPA Production

This was our third production and when we started out three years ago we had no idea that a local community panto would be so popular!

Alison Stibbe tried her hand at directing this year and we recruited a new musical director and choreographer. Hope McNamara, who lives locally, was a real find! She is a graduate of the Royal Academy of Music.

We wanted the audience to be a part of the production this year, so we decorated the hall to resemble a ballroom. The audience were, in effect, watching the drama unfold through the Beast's magical mirror. The front of house staff, formed a mini flash mob and entertained the audience at the end of the interval.

Over 70 people turned up to audition. Whilst not everyone got a part 'on stage', many of those that were turned away mucked in with painting and sewing etc. In the end we had a cast of 42 and over 70 people helped out front of house, back stage and in production activities. We staged four performances which were attended by over 480 people! So a good proportion of West Oxford Residents participated in this production in one way or another.
